Human Relations Approach

For short we shall call it HRA which stand the Human Relations Approach to God.

Why human relations approach? It is said understand man and you understand God. Let us suppose you have a very good friend, someone whom you trust but for some reason you do not like his children. You show your resentment towards his children openly. For how long do you think you will have this person as a good friend.

Take another example, you know John but for some reason he does not like you. However you like his children and you are always kind to them. For how long do you think John is going to dislike you? God works in the same way. How can we reach God if we are unkind to His children. How can we get close to God if we disregard His children. Or for that matter what is the use of serving God when you turn away His children when they seek your help. We have said before that this journey involves getting to know ourself. It is only through the other person that you can get to know yourself. You cannot get to know yourself by being on your own. This may sound strange but let me explain.

You may think that your are perfect, that you do not have any major negatives i.e. jealousy, envy, greed, selfishness because you are not exposed to conditions that will allow any one of the negative to surface. Take envy for example. You will only know if you have this negative quality if you are around people to see what they have. By sitting alone in meditation or in a jungle is not going to allow any negative qualities to surface. It is for this reason that we need to be in society in the midst of people to allow both the positives as well as the negatives which has remained latent in us, to surface. Life then becomes a mirror which reflects both your positive as well as your negative.
