WHAT ARE YOU SEEKING?

We are all seekers. That’s why we are here, but what are we seeking? If you do not know what you are seeking, when you find what you are seeking, you will not know that you have found it. So, if you say, you are seeking God and you don’t know who God is, even if you found Him, you do not know that you have found Him. Some of you may say, I am seeking enlightenment but you don’t know what enlightenment is, so even if you found enlightenment, you don’t know that you have found it. But if I tell you that what you are seeking is yourself, that is easier to understand isn’t it.

The human relations approach to God which our Guru has given to us, is about that. He has given us a full proof way. Guaranteed way, you know why? Because he has travelled this path many many many times. He can tell you the pitfalls, he can tell you the obstacles, he can tell you where to go, where not to go. Say for example, you want to travel to Maran, because he has been to Maran, he can tell you exactly where to go, which route to take, where the speed-cop is with the radar gun. All you have to do is to travel the path he has travelled.

But if some of you choose to get detoured and decide to Simpang Ranggam to eat the Prata there, or go to Malacca and maybe spend the night there. They get detoured, they get misdirected. If you can reach Maran in four hours, maybe these people will take three days. Why? Side tracked. So, if you have found something which can take you there, don’t get side tracked. Side tracking is going to make you take a longer time to reach.

Many people can get side tracked, because they found, this very interesting, that’s very interesting and they lose focus. Your focus is not God. Your focus is not enlightenment. Your focus is yourself. If I tell you to find yourself, it is easier right? I tell you to find God, you say where is God? Where to find Him? If I tell you to find enlightenment, you say where to find enlightenment? I don’t know what enlightenment is? When you reach enlightenment, you don’t know what it is. But if you find yourself, that is easy. You know your weaknesses, you know your strength, you know what is causing you problems. Some people don’t know what is causing them problems. They blame others, “He is the one who is causing my problem, he is the one causing my unhappiness, he is the one causing all my sorrow, all the problems I have is because of this fellow.”

But in actual fact, you are the one. You are creating the magnet for positive or negative. Don’t blame the people. You are the one. Blame yourself. If you blame yourself, then you start to analyse where have I gone wrong. Why am I feeling miserable, why am I having all these problems, why am I attracting bad things towards me and then you realise you are the magnet, whether positive or negative you are the magnet. Not somebody else but if I tell you that you are yourself an electric generator do you believe me or not. In school we use to put our hands on the voltmeter. You have electric field you know. We are electromagnetic field. We generate positive magnet through positive thinking or we generate negative magnet through our negative thinking. See many people don’t realise why they are having all this problem in life. Because you yourself generate this problem. Starting from home, if there is no harmony at home, forget about having a good life.

Harmony begins at home, your home must be harmonized. If you quarrel with your parents, make it up immediately. If you quarrel with your spouse, make it up immediately. Don’t generate negative magnet. If you have this problem, immediately say sorry. Why cannot say sorry, is your ego so big? That’s why people cannot say sorry, because their ego is very big. So a lot of people forget this the moment you leave your door to go to work, make sure there is harmony in your house. Then make sure there is harmony with the people you go around with, on the bus or where it is, in the MRT and then at the work place.

If you read your morning prayer, what does it say? “Let all who come to me today have their hearts filled with joy and confidence.” “Give me the Divine privilege of serving my brothers and sisters.” Divine privilege you know serving your brothers and sisters. Serving what? Serving food, open the door, simple things. You see, if we make this part of our life. Morning prayer, before you leave, make sure the house is harmonized, then you live in harmony, then you leave the house in harmony. You become a harmonious person. You generate positive magnet. You generate positive energy But if you leave the house after quarrelling or scolding your son, or daughter, quarrelling with parents and leave the the house like this, finish. You bring with you the negative to your work place to whoever you meet with. I say this is something which nobody understands.

Our Guru had said so many times, if you believe the human relations approach to God is the correct way and I believe very strongly and I am propagating this from now onwards. Believe in this. You must make the home a harmonious place. Then you attract the Fathers and Mothers to come here, all the deities loves to come. Why? Very pleasant place, nice environment, there are flowers, nice fragrance, bhati (incense stick) burning, Bhajans playing. Sure they will come and give their blessings and stay on But if the house has no harmony, this dirty , that dirty, disorganise, no bajans playing, no bhati burning, people quarrelling, I say thank you very much, I am going to go somewhere else. You think I am joking. I am not joking about this matter.

Then begin to change and be positive magnet and you will experience a change in your life. You experience changes in the way you relate with people. You experience changes because of the good things are coming to you. Some of you may get a good job, maybe get a good husband, you never know. But if you are stuck in this and say why am I having all these problems, understand yourself. Find yourself first. A lot of people don’t realise this. Don’t waste your time trying to find God. You can’t find Him. The human mind cannot understand God. So don’t try to find Him, forget about Him. Find yourself first, find yourself is easier. Do stock take, analyse, why am I having this jealous feeling? Why am I having this envious feeling? Why am I having negative thinking? The correct it what is wrong.

The journey of the spiritual life is climb upwards. Don’t find spiritual life outside you. To a certain length, yes you prepare, you practice this, you go to Maran, you enjoy this, yes but this journey is inside you. You cannot find this in books, they don’t tell you such things. So if you believe and subscribe in what our Guru have given to us, apply it. Apply it with the knowledge that it is going to help you in your daily living. It will make your life smooth. Try it. Harmony at home, harmony begins with yourself first. When you can harmonize yourself with thoughts, words and action, you can harmonize the place in which you are living, your home. Then harmonize your work place. If your workplace has a lot of disharmony, harmonize it. By generating positive thoughts. If people are not happy in the workplace. Stay positive to them and make sure that you don’t quarrel.

Why? Our morning prayer tells us that “let all those of come have their hearts filled with joy and confidence”. So if you leave the house with this thought in mind, your whole day will be positive. When you come back, do your night prayer. “God our Power” says “Start the day with love, spend the day with love, end the day with love.” something to that effect. It sounds simple but we must make the effort. If we don’t make the effort, sometimes we forget. Forget is O.K but once you remember, back track again. Change again.

It is a journey of change, changing yourself, changing your thinking, changing the way you look at things. Spiritual life is a life of change. If you refuse to change nothing will happen. And also sacrifice. Because we like to do the things we like, like watching TV. We have to sacrifice. When its time to go for prayers. Set aside even a very good TV program. Come to prayers, this is more important.

So that way you change your life and when you change your life, when you change to the way you think, your life will change and when your life change, you said yes this the correct journey, this is the correct path. Then stick to it. Stick to it and you begin to thirst for it. When you thirst for it, you get grace. But if you take this journey as “never mind, a lot of time, this fellow talking nonsense, how to climb?”. If you are not interested, half hearted, come don’t come, of course is that going to Maran, you go to Malacca, you go to simpang ranggam, got prate along the way, you stop. Then whose fault is it if people reach Maran, you are three days behind?

Nobody’s fault but if you choose to do that, that is the choice you make. So if you have found something which you believe will take you to where you want to go, stick with it. And where you want to go is back here (Heart). Not outside anymore, because you all say God lives in you. So find him in here (heart). So you find yourself and when you find yourself you find God. But first of all you must be able to be honest to yourself and say I am so bad, I am this and this and all my bad but also positive, also the good points. But if you got good points, make it better. If you area already selfless, make it better still. If you are already giving, give more.

But if you have negative feeling about people like jealousy, address it. Why? Then you must recognise this is within you, within your ability to change. But if you choose not to see it, like some people would say “Blind Spot” then you will never change because “I am OK what? Nothing wrong with me.” Because why? You always concentrate on the positive or it is like the advertisement only saying good things, only hear the good things. If you only hear the good things, then you will never change.

So remember this, the human relations approach to God which has been given to us is a sure proof way because the Guru has walked this path many times. He has given you the sign post, he has given you the teachings, he has given you the DO’s and DON’T’s, as given you what to look for. Then what he has done is left his disciples around for you to talk to them. That’s what he has done. The rest is up to us.
