WHERE WAS GOD WHEN DISASTER STRIKES?

A question commonly asked by people especially when it involves innocent children.
Natural disasters like tsunami, hurricane, tornado etc. happen due to geographical reasons and has nothing to do with the wrath of God, a misconception with most people. Why would God want to destroy or punish His children or inflict pain or death? Unnatural disasters are acts of carnage caused by human beings that takes place by the will of the person committing the acts or by negligence like when a building or bridge collapses.

Firstly as the Silent Watcher, God watches how his children behaves and how nature, His creation acts in the grand scheme of things. It is not by His design that earth is going through such a great turmoil never seen before in the past century. Plagued by wars, natural and unnatural disaster that seem to occur every day the human race is facing its greatest challenge.

We need to go beyond the event to see and understand why the human race is facing such a great challenge in the 21st century. If you believe in one life then what I am going to say here makes no sense. However if you believe if an afterlife then it will make sense to you.
Just as humans evolved physically, consciousness too evolved with each birth that the consciousness takes. Without the evolution of this consciousness, humans will remain animalistic in behaviour and will not move upwards on the spiritual ladder towards his true
Self. Although it may seem that what I am writing here lacks compassion, I am asking the reader to open his mind to this new knowledge.

Every natural disaster that takes place involving death, consciousness evolves some by leaps and bounds especially when the person sacrifices his life for another just before death takes place. The evolution is always upwards and not downward. There is no regression except in very extreme circumstances where a brutal act is done towards another human being.
In the grand scheme of things where a child dies due to natural disaster something better is always waiting for the new birth of the consciousness. You need to see consciousness as a continuous continuum of energy taking birth after birth in order to fully realize itself. If you can subscribe to this new thinking then you can understand that nothing is loss in any disaster only the physical entity not the consciousness.

Let’s look at the good that any natural disaster brings. Firstly it moves people to feel compassion, this in itself brings out positive emotions. Secondly people are motivated to help or donate time and money towards the relief effort. Again this act of charity brings about an elevation of consciousness. For others they volunteer their time to help out in the relief effort. All these moves the human race together as one. From what appears to be a disaster we can now draw a positive reaction that resonates throughout the entire human race. An example of such a disaster was the tsunami, on Boxing Day and The Fukushima tsunami which caused the radiation leak.

Unnatural disaster too moves people in the same direction and acts of heroism bring out the best in people. For those who committed the crime they face the consequences of the law of the land. They too face an unseen law – the cosmic law. The cosmic law is in continuous motion and reacts swiftly and the punishment they face will be in the hereafter or their present life.

No one escapes the Cosmic Law – a person may escape the law of the land by engaging a good lawyer.  In the spiritual world there are no lawyers only good deeds and payment of karmic debts which may take a few lives – this takes  the form of living miserable lives until the debt is fully paid. Only the Compassionate One can soften or reduce this debt. Repenting and asking for mercy helps if it is genuine and sincere. Turning to God for help and asking forgiveness also helps. This has to be followed by positive actions like acts of kindness towards all living things.

Where does God fit into this equation? He watches and allows His children, the human race to engage in activities that they want to. Fulfilling all their desires for material things and earthly pleasure until there comes a time when man realizes the folly of his actions. Like the prodigal son, man turns to the Father and the Father welcomes the child with open arms and says “Finally you have returned to Me".
