Today as a continuation of last week’s posting on Intermediaries, we shall talk about how to build a relationship with God. You may ask why is there a necessity to build a relationship with God when God is everywhere. God is in me, God is outside, God is in temples why must I build a relationship with God. Now understand that only God will not let you down. Everyone else will let you down, your friends, your relatives, your spouses, your children, whatever it is, whoever it is. Eventually they will let you down. They will let you down because on the day you finish your assignment, the only one who can help you is God. No one else can help you. So we have to start to build a relationship with Him. Since no one can comprehend or know God we need to work through His Intermediaries known to man – the Gurus, the Avatars, and the Prophets.
Our prayer Mother My Light tells us what is ? “Ultimately Mother it is only you for me, no one else matters except You, time and again You have shown us the fallacy, illusion and futility of laying my hopes and dreams on earthly attachment. Of seeing everything that I do as being for someone else instead of You.” Know that we do for God not for human beings and you will not be disappointed. That is the reason why we have to build a relationship with God. Because ultimately before you go, only God can help you. If you have a Guru, your Guru is there to help you. If not hang on to His Intermediaries because your last breath should be of God. Because God is the only one who can help you. That is the reason why.
Now, how do you build a relationship? This is very interesting. Now if you go through any prayers, three words are usually mentioned, trust, faith and confidence. When we surrender to His Will we say “with absolute total trust, faith and confidence in Thee I now leave myself, my affairs, my entire future, absolutely and totally in Thy hands.” Trust, Faith and Confidence, these three things. To build a relationship with God, you need to have trust. Do we trust God? Yes, you do. You have to. Even the US dollar bill states “In God We Trust.” Why? Only God you can trust. So you have to have trust.
When we say to build that relationship, build a temple of God inside you. To build that temple inside you, you have to build on trust. Your foundation must be about trust. Foundation – trust. Without trust everything will collapse. Your pillar which holds up your house must be of faith. Faith is the strength you build on. Bit by bit. He gives you problem in life you develop a little faith. He gives you a bigger problem, you develop a bigger faith. He doesn’t give you problem you have no faith. So opportunities in life are for you to develop faith. Just like that, the pillar of your house must be built on faith. The walls of the house must build on confidence and finally the roof – of devotion. Without devotion, your trust , faith and confidence is like building a paper house only to be torn down with one storm in life.
Build your house with the foundation of trust, the pillars of faith, and the walls of confidence and top it with the roof of devotion. Why devotion because He protects you in times of trouble and in good times. Now after you have built this temple of God in your heart, the Indweller will be alive with your devotion. Then He is there all the time.
He is just waiting for you to build this temple for Him. That’s when He lives in you. The Indweller becomes alive in you. He is there all this time. So long as you have not built this relationship with him, He is there but He remains dormant, silent. The moment you build this temple in your heart, the Indweller comes alive. And after you have built this temple in your heart, your next step is for you to plant the seed which He has given to all of us. The Divine seed of Love. This divine seed of love has a blueprint to be like the Father. In every seed there is a blueprint to be like the Father. The mango seed can only produce mango fruits it cannot produce an orange fruit. So the divine seed which He has given all of us one day must mature and be like Him. To build on this and allow this seed to germinate, you must remember three things.
Plant the seed with thoughts of love. Water the seed with words of love. Maintain the seed with acts of love. I repeat. Plant this seed which He has given you as the soul in you. Plant this seed with thoughts of love. Water it with words of love. Maintain it with acts of love and then watch the seed germinate. Watch the seed of love germinate and bloom until it bears fruits of love. Once it bears fruits of love, you can say I am like my Father, the Father who is in me. Why? Because in the seed is the fruit and in that fruit lies the seed. Sounds complicated. Not so in every fruit there is the seed and in that seed is the blueprint of the fruit waiting to be born.
Only when you are able to bear the fruits of love and you can share these fruits with people, can you then experience the Divinity within you until then it is only knowledge. We all have this knowledge. I am God and God lives in me. It is knowledge. For you to convert this knowledge to wisdom and experience it, two things you have to do which I have mentioned. Create and build this temple in your heart and after you have done that, plant the seed of love and watch it grow, watch it germinate, watch it bloom, watch it mature and bear fruits. You will know for yourself, people will come to you because you have become a magnet. A magnet of love, they come to you for help, they ask you to solve their problems. But what we want is for each and every one of you here to be able to build a relationship with God so that He as the Indweller is watching you all the time. He is watching this seed grow. He will guide you within your Self. So then you don’t have to run to people for help when you have a small problem. You don’t have to run to the temple for the temple is now in you. As long as you have not built this relationship with God you are always running around because you have not developed the trust, faith and confidence in the Divine.
We all have a mobile phone that works on 3G which we use many times a day but how many of us remember the 1G even once a day! What is the 1G – the God in us. If you can connect to the 1G, forget about the 3G. That 1G is enough to bring you to all the places you want to go. As long as the 1G is alive in you and watches you, He will guide you, He will say “Don’t go there, don’t go here” He will guide you because the Indweller has suddenly become active. The Indweller is watching the seed which He has planted in you grow and germinate to be like Him.
So if you ask, how do you build this relationship, today I am telling you the how. You have to go and experience it, you have to go and apply what has been mentioned and then you experience it. Because anyone who tells you that “I am God” and then he doesn’t experience it, doesn’t feel it. It is of no use. It is nothing more than bookish knowledge. It is like a heart surgeon, who can explain to you A to Z on how to do heart transplant but when you give him a scalpel, he will say sorry I cannot do it. Why? No experience, no practice. He has not applied the knowledge he has learnt. Apply this knowledge that you have been given and experience the divinity within you.
The learning process is a long journey but as long as you take something with you and think about it that helps. You learn when you listen; you understand when you meditate on what you have learnt. You experience when you apply what you understand. An application with an understanding is important. People ask you why are you doing all these things. Why do you need to pray? Your answer will be because I want to be close to God. I am building a relationship with Him. I want to get to know Him. So that on my last breath I can say God, “I am ready for You, take me”. Who else can take you home? Your spouse cannot take you, your children will say bye bye. Therefore we have to maintain and build this relationship so that when the time comes we are ready for Him.
